Trivial Pursuit Digital Choice - Hasbro Games Reviews
The BEST Trival Pursuit Yet!!!
Irishannon from Detroit, MI USA - 5 out of 5.
I am a trivia junkie, and own four versions of Trival Pursuit. It can be a daunting game for some people, however. I have a hard time getting people to play because if there are tougher catergories, the game can last a bit too long. The Digital Choice version is a super crowd pleaser! It takes just a few minutes to download new catergories onto the handheld, and you are good to go! We played an entire game with movie and t.v. catergories that everyone was knowledgeable in. It made the game so much more fun for all. It also gives you instructions for quick play games, that can get four people through a full game in under an hour! You still have the option to play harder catergories if that is your group's preference, but this is by far the most versatile trivia game out there. Simple set-up, easy to follow instructions, and endless catergory combinations make this an AWESOME choice for trivia lovers!0 people voted this review as helpful and 0 people voted this review as unhelpful.
Digi Trivial Pursuit, meh
katie ellen from CHICAGOLAND, IL - 3 out of 5.
I was very excited about this game the cards were always a pain and someone would inevitably take from the wrong side, so how great to have the question in an electronic device. The problem is the category shuffle. It seemed like 1 category was coming up more than the others and we went through all of the questions in it in 3 games. Adding questions to the game from the online site seemed easy enough but really held up the game when we had to "re-load" in the middle of it. A fun game because trivial pursuit always is, but next time we play we will probably pull out the old version.0 people voted this review as helpful and 0 people voted this review as unhelpful.
Best TP yet
Kat from North Ga., United States - 5 out of 5.
I bought this in the fall of 2008 at full price and had no problems dl it then. Today I checked it out again, they no longer seem to have where you can buy new q's but do have where you can make and add your own q's. I now have loaded 2548 q's on my game & it says I have only used 54%. That means I can add 46% more q's. I am not sure but seems you can get more now. And you can take off and add on if you need to change what q's you have loaded.I had and have windows xp home and have had no problems with this game.
After re reading other reviews..first you need to have windows I guess. Next, you need to reg. your game. (makes it so you can update or change q's later if you want too.as I did 1+ years later.) You need to connect your game (make sure it has installed batteries.) using the usb cable to your pc. Turn on (in the back) they hand held. Go to the url...[...]
do what the page tells you to do. (you need to dl, for your opsystem..mine is windows xp, the app to your desktop. Once that is done, click on it on your desktop and run it. Then you can do as told and get or make your q's. No need to save the app (tho keep your inst. manual that came with the game, it also has the url on it. You can go back to that url at anytime, if needed, redownload the app. and add or change your q's.)
Years and years ago when TP first came out, you could buy just the decks of cards, I had many categories so everyone had something they were good at. This game has improved on that. True, some are very hard, some are not if it is an area you kind of know. I like to learn from what I do not know.

What a fun way to spend a winter evening with friends. Digital Trivial Pursuit is a great way to pass some time, and maybe learn something at the same time. Great concept that the questions can be added and updated so the "host" doesn't always have all the answers in his own home. Great game!!0 people voted this review as helpful and 0 people voted this review as unhelpful.
All Players Must Be Brainiacs
C. Acuff from Metairie, Louisiana - 1 out of 5.
20+ years ago, we played Trivial Pursuit over and over and over again. Everybody was able to play and everybody was able to answer some questions because they were mostly based on general knowledge and trivia. Not so anymore! If a player is not extremely well-read and informed, they will be very bored because the questions are VERY difficult for the average person. If you don't play the "Easy" mode, you will be "playing" all night waiting for a question to answer. The first time I played, we "got through it" and the second time, with a larger group, we gave up. Nobody wants to "play" something and not be able to "play."
The set-up, design and concept of the game is nearly identical in the electronic version. However, the digital "cards" -- because that's all that changed, is the cards are now in a hand-held digital contraption -- do not include the familiar categories and the navigation is cumbersome. It is a three-step process to skip an insanely difficult question. The categories are repeated. The screen will show you, for example, Sports and Leisure I for yellow and Sports and Leisure II for green. With nothing being different about how to play using the digital contraption, I say it's a waste of technology. It would be better if, say, you land on blue and you choose blue (let's say its History) on the screen, then the screen would give the player a choice of questions in categories of Children's questions; Teen questions; World History, U.S. History, etc.
Bottom line. Questions are too difficult for average people. The digital contraption adds NOTHING to the game. Definitely not nearly as enjoyable as it was many years ago. It's not a family game, unless you are a family made up of only genius-level knowledge and trivia seekers. Even then, don't expect many non-savant people under the age of 21 to be able to answer even one question.
I dont' even know if I want to keep the game I bought for me -- much less the second game I bought as a potential gift.

EXCELLENT!!! This is the coolest ever!!!
"great times" from San Diego, CA USA - 5 out of 5.
I received this last night. This is the most awesome game idea ever!!! It's small, compact and it works awesome!!! The whole installation, hookup and downloading of (I think it was 5800) questions-all without the slightest problem whatsoever. I read all of these ratings prior to purchase and was sceptical, but for the $10 price I decided to risk it. I'm so happy I've already ordered 2 more for gifts! This is "hands down" my best purchase in years! I downloaded the ENTIRE KID'S EDITION of TP, the 90's Edition and ALL KINDS OF MISC. questions in a matter of minutes! NO CHARGE! Everything was so smooth (and fairly simple) I'm having a hard time believing these bad reviews are the game's fault at all. Here's the key here people: READ THE DIRECTIONS. The instructions that come with the game tell you where/what the buttons do and how to put the batteries in. It also tells you (on the box and about 5 other locations) TO GO TO THEIR WEBSITE to download the desktop application and further directions. When you get there click on the "Getting Started" link on the left side. You can probably print it out but I just minimized it to my tray while I clicked on the "Download", etc. and kept refering back to it when I needed to know what to do next. I had the application put a shortcut on my desktop, so when I minimized the web page I double clicked the icon and it started. (Vista kept telling me I "needed to format the disk", I just "X"d it out. XP probably does the same.) I connected the USB and turned "ON" the switch in the back. Bam, done. At first the application does look a bit intimidating but just READ THE DIRECTIONS! It's well worth the few minutes to learn how to use the program and then you see how easy it is! It's NOT one of those type's where you have to keep going back to the directions over & over. I hate that. Once is all you need! Also, while your downloading questions, etc. if it says "there's a problem" or "it's not connected" the game probably "timed out" (like it says it will in the instructions to save battery power) Just turn it "off" and back "on" again. Problem solved. I hope this has helped a few people. Especially those who are having problems with it. A+++++!1 people voted this review as helpful and 0 people voted this review as unhelpful.

Being portable is nice!
Holly J. Flannery from Tampa, FL USA - 4 out of 5.
Our family loves to play trivia games. We took the device on a trip with us and it was very convenient having it electronically instead of using the old cards. We downloaded additional questions online, plus we made up some of our own so that even our 4 year old grandson was able to answer some of the questions (it made him feel like he was contributing).2 people voted this review as helpful and 0 people voted this review as unhelpful.
Best Version of Trivial Pursuit Ever!!!
Marissa Freire from new haven, ct usa - 5 out of 5.
Love this version because you can update all of your categories online. The questions are always changing so you actually save money in the long run not having to buy all the new editions. Also, there are no cards to use so its all compact and easy to use! Cant wait to get home tonight to play.0 people voted this review as helpful and 0 people voted this review as unhelpful.
Cool, but not Mac Friendly
ErinLynn from NY, NY - 4 out of 5.
My boyfriend and I are big trivia fans so I bought this for us, so far we really like it. The downside I'm not a fan of is that it's not Mac compatible! I'm a Mac girl, so that's annoying! Just make sure you have a PC on hand.3 people voted this review as helpful and 1 people voted this review as unhelpful.
trivia pursuit failure
Laura Lawson - 1 out of 5.
I ordered this thinking that it would be fun. I have no idea what is going on I thought I could download questions to it and that didn't work; so I guess I downloaded questions to my work computer that I will never be able to use. I am hoping that I can figure it out before it ends up in the back of the closet.4 people voted this review as helpful and 2 people voted this review as unhelpful.
Finally - An Electronic Version Better than the Original Game!
PMP Passer from MA United States - 5 out of 5.
Ever since the Jeapordy interactive game, I've been hesitant to buy the digital version of any game...but Trivial Pursuit Digital Choice has made me a believer again! This game is fantastic! It's basically the same Trivial Pursuit game, but instead of using a box of paper question cards, you have a small electronic screen that has all the questions. At the start of each game, you can pick your categories from a bunch of pre-programmed ones (or you can invent your own questions!). Once you pick the question, you decide which question categories will be used for each color. So you could have the "Legends & Unsolved Mysteries" category be orange this game, and blue the next. The digital question console is battery powered and lighted, and it's really easy to read. It also hides the answer, so if you need to show the actual question to the guesser, they can't see the answer.
Lastly, the console plugs into your computer with an included usb cable and there's some software that you install that lets you add/remove questions from it. If you have some free time, you can create your own categories and questions. We collected trivia questions from our family and we now have a "Family Trivia" category that has questions about all our family members ("What year was Sophie married?", "What color eyes does Grampa have?", "What was Aunt Sara's maiden name?", etc...)
It really makes the game a whole lot more fun.
I 100% recommend this.
Some other things to note:
- it's not clear from the description, but this DOES come with a normal trivial pursuit board, game pieces and pie wedges. The only difference is that there aren't any printed questions (all the questions come from the digital console).
- read all the instructions to figure out the console. It's easy to use once you know what the buttons do, but if you just "open and use" without reading the instructions, you might get confused.

A fun addition to our home
Thomas J. Larson from Omaha - 5 out of 5.
This new TP gaming system is a great way to avoid buying new box sets of TP games for excessive amounts of $$$. I love the feature that allows you to download new questions off the internet. I was able to download 6 different Kids Categories that allow my young children to play. Not only that, but as a movie and sports buff, I was able to download those categories as well.A great buy, and since I got it on Amazon for under $20, it was literally a steal.

What a pleassure
Lynne M. from Frankfort, KY - 5 out of 5.
I had no problem downloading additional quesions and there were so many categories to choose from. I enjoyed being about to download some that fit the interests for both me and my daughter. My daughter has wanted to play it everyday since Christmas.1 people voted this review as helpful and 0 people voted this review as unhelpful.
Downloading topics you enjoy = fun!!
Michael McCunney from Atlanta, GA - 5 out of 5.
I love playing trivia games, but the girlfriend isn't so hot on them...until now! With the ability to download our own set of questions (including topics like "90's fads" and "Crime TV shows"), it really makes the game enjoyable for everyone, even those who didn't enjoy the standard Trivial Pursuit categories. It was easy to sync up the unit and we were off and running in no time. The only quasi-downer is that TP only gives you a limited amount of "free" (or more accurately, "pre-purchased credits") to be able to "buy" questions from the site. Now, they still give you a ton, I doubt we will ever get through them all...but it would be nice if this was a free service instead of a pay service if we ever wanted to get another couple hundred questions.
All in all, I'd say this is one of our favorite games to play and at $15, it's an off-the-charts bargain.

Bad initial questions, can't figure out how to load new ones!
Justin J. Stark from Omaha, NE, USA - 1 out of 5.
The questions that come loaded on the handheld are pretty difficult and 2 of the 6 categories are sports. Yuck! Trying to load new questions has been a nightmare. I downloaded the desktop app and plugged in my handheld. It then tells me my handheld is already registered but my desktop isn't. So it wants me to enter a username and password??? I have never registered this product so I don't have a username or password. There is no link or other way I have found to register. If I close the window it takes me to the main window of the application but I cannot figure out how to add questions. There is no "shopping cart" or "load" buttons or anything like that. So I'm stuck with the six original categories and Hasbro customer service seems to be of no help.Don't buy this game. Hasbro has taken something that should be simple (adding questions to the device) and made it insanely complicated with registrations and passwords and desktop applications.

great idea problem execusion
D. Boros from Baltimore, Maryland - 2 out of 5.
My husband and I asked for and received this game for Christmas. the preloaded questions are ok but a little hard. we were able to successfully download more questions from the website and so far (fingers crossed) the desktop application has worked ok. My problem is 2 fold, 1st I obviously didn't pay enough attention to the directions or it wasn't clear that you have to choose mini categories for each of the broad categories...I thought I could arrange the uncategorized as I chose but that is not so...oops now I have no questions in sports and leisure or wild....o-well. 2nd, I also thought that with my 1800 I would be able to dump some to get more from the web site...this is not so, you get 1800 total you can add and remove those 1800 from the hand held to the desktop but the original 1800 you downloaded are the questions you are stuck with. lastly the web site in the help section says you can purchase more questions (for silly people like me who messed it up the first time) BUT when you go to the hasbro website as they suggest there is no way to get them in the section it sends you to or anywhere else on the website. The last is my biggest annoyance at the moment, if I can purchase those questions eventually all will be fixed. I hope for those considering this game this review was helpful and most of all make sure that you choose mini categories for each broad category!2 people voted this review as helpful and 0 people voted this review as unhelpful.
Don't waste your time or money
Beth from Orlando, FL - 1 out of 5.
I was unable to download any questions from the Trivial Pursuit website. Hasbro customer service was unable to help. "Thank you for contacting Hasbro, Inc. regarding the Trival Pursiut Digital Choice game questions. We are sorry to advise that the information you have requested is not readily available. We are sharing your question with those internal parties who are more familiar with this piece of our business. We will respond to you, as soon as we receive the information from them. We thank you, in advance, for your patience." Two weeks later, still with no help from Hasbro, I returned the game to Amazon. What a waste of my time! I really love Trivial Pursuit, but not this one!5 people voted this review as helpful and 0 people voted this review as unhelpful.
Frustrating application voids toy's value
kim*designer from Pittsburgh, PA area - 1 out of 5.
I was so excited when my kids bought me this for Christmas. Now I am just frustrated! I'm computer savvy, yet am completely baffled by the inconsistent and bug-laden desktop application that is used for downloading questions. Multiple crashes of the app have led to multiple uninstalls and reinstalls; the app fails to recognize the game; the USB port fails to recognize the game; the unit has to be turned on and off repeatedly to be connected; the app stays active in the Task Manager's process list after closing; on and on and on . . . I am unable to connect, register, or download. Avoid this frustrating, ill-conceived game. I'm returning mine. I feel very bad because my kids found it themselves and were so excited to give it to me, but I have wasted a few hours of my life trying to make this lemon run. Don't waste your time like I did.7 people voted this review as helpful and 0 people voted this review as unhelpful.
Great TP concept (choose your own categories) terrible manual
zITA from Roswell, Georgia - 4 out of 5.
Success! I figured out how to use it and I love the concept of being able to choose the question categories. So many science questions! :-) But I'm surprised no one else has commented on what for me was almost a show stopper. I got real close to returning the unit. The instructions were not clear to me at all. It took me way too much experimenting to figure out how to start a game that actually used the questions I downloaded.Have faith, it does work as advertised.

Careful downloading questions. They don't have more to buy!
Steve - 3 out of 5.
Be careful not to use up your "free" questions thinking that you'll be able to easily buy more. The desktop software says:"Problem: I have downloaded all of my free questions. How can I get more?
Solution: Go to http://www.hasbrotoyshop.com/ and select Trivial Pursuit (?). You will be able to purchase additional questions. After you purchase the questions, you will be provided a code to enter under the My Questions tab."
The problem is that there doesn't seem to be any way to actually purchase additional questions at that site, nor is there any indication anywhere of how much money they'll charge if/when they actually do allow you to purchase additional questions. This seems like a fairly easy thing for Hasbro to do and it's somewhat unbelievable that they haven't. Someone there has dropped the ball on this one.
The power of this game SHOULD be that when they release a new edition I SHOULD be able to go online and buy the questions for download rather than a new physical game. Thus far, that doesn't seem to be the case.

What is up with daily changing prices?
Eric from Austin - 2 out of 5.
I bought this when games were supposedly on sale - for $17.99. 3 days after the big sale the price drops to $14.99. Watch prices for a couple of days before you buy. - The product is ok. I am giving 2 stars for the overall product and sales channel experience.0 people voted this review as helpful and 14 people voted this review as unhelpful.
Farewell stupid cards - this is the future
ScOObydoo from USA - 4 out of 5.
Gotta love this product. You get the same game fun as the regular Trivial pursuit, without the hassle of the cards. The controller is fun to hand around and makes game play quite a bit more entertaining (and efficient).Especially at the current price on Amazon (<$18) it has to be one of the best toy bargains on the site. Another perfect item for a Christmas gift list, or for keeping in the house if you need a last minute present for someone. Just don't forget to order one for yourself!

Great Concept, But Not Able to Download New Questions
Jesse Spencer Smith from Champaign, IL - 1 out of 5.
Everyone loves Trivial Pursuit, but we each have our favorite topics. Too many sports questions in a row ruin my night! With Digital Choice you are supposedly able to download new questions easily, choosing the subjects. Fantastic idea. Terrible execution. While the handheld device for questions and answers is perfectly adequate, it seems as if the computer-based software and the online service from which you download questions are not functioning. I've been unable to download new questions in the month since buying the game, always running into a "Server Not Available" error. After trying to contact technical support to no avail, I've tried lowering our firewall and opening a port in our router without success. We've run through the questions that come preloaded, and until the online service is up and running (or the client software glitch is patched), Trivial Pursuit Digital Choice will have to remain on the shelf.37 people voted this review as helpful and 1 people voted this review as unhelpful.
Perfect Gift for all Ages
Robin Preston from California - 5 out of 5.
I've given this game as a gift to several friends and family members and it's always a hit! You don't have to figure out which version your friends will like because this version lets them download and choose any categories of questions they want. I'm giving this to a lot of friends for Christmas. It's a super easy way to go and everyone seems to like it.VERY FUN for all ages!!!
