LeapFrog Leapster Educational Game: The Incredibles by Leapfrog - 20231 Reviews
Great game for overachiever
Heather Hoetker from Boise, ID - 5 out of 5.
My six year old is a math wiz. This is the first game we have gotten for his Leapster that has challenged him at all. I had read some of the reviews that said it is challenging and decided to give it a try. I am very happy with this game. He is able to maneuver around the different games pretty easily, but the level of the games is pretty difficult. It took him a little while to figure out how to get the game cards, but now is able to get them once he masters the skills. I really feel like he is having to think and retain the information in order to keep going in the game.0 people voted this review as helpful and 0 people voted this review as unhelpful.
Too difficult for younger kids, not interesting for older kids
Noname - 3 out of 5.
Okay, we own a lot of Leapster cartridges. My kids may have tried this out, but they haven't played it much at all. There are 5 characters, each one associated with a different game. Each game has two levels. In addition to the basic games I describe, there are bonus rounds:
Mr. Incredible: Solve the addition and multiplication problems. The answers are on the heads of a statue. Choose the statue with the correct answer and push or pull it into position. Level 1: The addition problems feature serial addition of three single digit numbers. Level 2: The multiplication problems feature single digit multiplication of two single digit numbers.
Mrs. Incredible: Doors open and close revealing letters to a word. Grab the letters to spell a word before the door closes. They must be grabbed in the correct order. Level 1: The words are about five or six letters long. Level 2: The words are about the same length as Level 1, but they are more difficult to spell because they do not follow the basic phonics rules.
Dash: Pick up blocks to build the correct number. For example, if the number is 605, pick up blocks 600 and 5, put the 600 in the hundreds place and the 5 in the ones place. Level 1: The numbers are three digits long. Level 2: The numbers are four digits long.
Violet: Violet has to find the part of speech in the maze that completes the sentence. Level 1: This level focuses on finding the nouns. An example is "Find the noun that completes the sentence." The sentence is "The ___ throws a robot," and the choices are "ran," "happy," "enemy." Level 2: Find adjectives to complete the sentence.
Syndrome: Help navigate the Incredibles family work together to get through the jungle. Must use some logic, like use Mr. Incredible's strength to move rocks or Mrs. Incredible's stretch to reach across a chasm.
Summary: The games are not bad and they are very educational. The problem I think is The Incredibles appeals to a younger audience, maybe preschool level, and the skills it requires are first through third grade level. They were too difficult for my kids when I bought the cartridge, still too difficult for my now 5 year old; but The Incredibles is considered too babyish by my 7 year old who could now play the games.

Very difficult to play
book crazy from California, USA - 2 out of 5.
Out of all the games my son has (around 10), this is the worst of them. It is confusing and very difficult to use. The activities seem interesting but when you try to do something, the controls just dont work well. I tried the activities so I could explain my son how to play (first time I have to do that with a leapster game) and couldnt finish them !!. Do not recommend this game.0 people voted this review as helpful and 0 people voted this review as unhelpful.
Not so Great

Like the PS2 version, we just weren't real thrilled about the fun-factor of this one. Didn't hold my son's interest like other games.0 people voted this review as helpful and 0 people voted this review as unhelpful.
Glad to find it again!

One of my kids favorites! I'm buying a replacement copy. I agree these things are durable, I sent one through the wash last month and in the morning it was fine. I agree this one is a bit of a challenge (i.e. frustrating) in parts, BUT the upside of this is that although we lost it a year ago (after having it for over a year) I have no qualms about buying it again (I've been looking at the stores to no avail), for my now almost 8 year old son knowing he'll still have fun with it and my almost 4 year old daughter knowing she'll love it again just because it's the Incredibles! Highly recommended!3 people voted this review as helpful and 0 people voted this review as unhelpful.
The Incredibles are incredible!

My [..]son LOVES this game. Many of the other leapster cartridges that are geared for his age are too easy. This one challenges him. He does most of the work himself with occassional help from me. I love the entire Leapster line and this game has not let us down one bit.1 people voted this review as helpful and 1 people voted this review as unhelpful.
Great Learning !!!
P. Tyler from Newark, DE - 5 out of 5.
My six year son loves to strive to get the access cards. Even though he has me doing all the work in the adding section he sits there and watches me and is learning from me. This is a little too advance for him as far as the math. But he is learning slowly but surely.2 people voted this review as helpful and 0 people voted this review as unhelpful.
Incredibly Fun - BUT Tough to Complete!
PiperLady3 from Illinois USA - 4 out of 5.
I purchased this game for my 7-year-old girl, who has several other Leapster cartridges. While the educational material was not too easy nor too challenging for her, she became frustrated that she could not earn a certain "ticket" she needed in order to complete the final level (one section requires tickets earned during other section playtimes). I myself tried to get that specific ticket for her several times, and I wasn't able to, even after over an hour of MY playing for it.Still, it was fun (yes, even for me!) and a big "must-have" for any "Incredibles" fan between 7 and 9 years old.

Incredibles game review

My 9 year old was frustrated at first, but after persevering, he has really enjoyed this game. The newness has worn off after a while, but he still enjoys it. The academics is a little young and easy for him. My 6 year old has played it as well and enjoys it too.6 people voted this review as helpful and 1 people voted this review as unhelpful.
Top notch investment
Cynthia Coan from Syracuse NY - 4 out of 5.
I have spent a great deal of time and money looking around for games and tools that my 9 year old with special educational needs could play without being self-concious. He has been teased over and over about games that he plays with being a "baby" game, but leapster managed to help out with that. I HIGHLY reccomend any L-Max game. These games are based on education within a "normal" game setting. You can't advance in the game without getting the answers correct. Leapster is the answer to my prears. Fun and learning at the same time. If you have a child that is behind in the major subjects invest your money in leapster. You won't be sorry!4 people voted this review as helpful and 1 people voted this review as unhelpful.
Challenging and entertaining
Day Owen from Plainview, TX United States - 5 out of 5.
Our children [ages 6 and 7] enjoy the activities in this game because they require thought and problem-solving skills. Although Leapster games are grade-leveled accurately, both of our children are advanced readers.5 people voted this review as helpful and 4 people voted this review as unhelpful.
Incredible Incredibles
G. Connor - 5 out of 5.
This game is fantastic. It goes over parts of a sentence, addition, > <, multiplication, spelling and more. My kids are 5 and 7 and it is difficult to get them to put it down. We have almost all the cartriges but this is their favorite.19 people voted this review as helpful and 0 people voted this review as unhelpful.
To Young
Debra K. Gergen from Granville, Iowa - 2 out of 5.
I bought this for my grandson not realizing that it was for an older child. So, it is not that there is anything wrong with the game it is just that he is to young for it.1 people voted this review as helpful and 28 people voted this review as unhelpful.
incredibles leapster game
C. Robinson - 4 out of 5.
Purchased this item for my 3-year-old to use because he liked the movie so much. Even though the game is for 2nd-3rd grade, he was still able to get the answers correct after practicing for awhile. I do like the way that you can easily press the help button on the leapster l-max in order to review the concepts. By utilizing this feature, my son was able to teach himself about the math, place value, etc. very easily.10 people voted this review as helpful and 0 people voted this review as unhelpful.
Clumsy, frustrating, and now collecting dust.
Born in '61 - 1 out of 5.
This game was a big disappointment. I'd even venture to say that it illustrates how NOT to design an educational game. The clumsiness of the game gets in the way of the learning and the fun. The controls - at least for the math game (my daughter and I got fed up and didn't try the others) - are not at all intuitive. Buyers who don't read manuals carefully, beware. But at least you'd think the game would become fun once that wall was scaled. Unfortunately, the mechanism for making Mr. Incredible move the math blocks is so clumsy that, whether you can solve the math problems or not, it's very difficult to move 5 of them to their proper spots in 60 seconds. This seems to leave you stuck at the first level of the game, regardless of your math knowledge. Is the point to have fun and practice math, or to learn how to move blocks?13 people voted this review as helpful and 0 people voted this review as unhelpful.
I love it- review from 6 yr

It is great. I like the Mrs Incredible game best. Because she spells words with me. The opening credits are neat too.review from Emma. age 6
From her mom-
I have been amazed at how well she has done with this game, since it has a 2nd and 3rd grade level on it. I was concerned it would be too advanced and not be fun for her. Instead, she has been challenged but in a fun and positive way. This is great game for encouraging Spelling, Reading, and Math!

My almost-six year old loves it!
D. Gailband from California - 5 out of 5.
This is one of his favorite cartridges. He was a little discouraged at first as some of the games were over his head but he's figured them out and plays it as much as I'll let him now. Definitely recommend having a Leapster backback to hold the Leapster and all the cartridges (plus spare batteries!) for trips and to keep away from younger siblings.9 people voted this review as helpful and 0 people voted this review as unhelpful.
My son loves this game, PLUS
Virginia Reviewer from Virginia - 5 out of 5.
My 7-year-old son enjoys this game tremendously. However, this review is more about its physical construction. The cartridges are small, and this one just took a trip through the washer. It still works without a problem! However I would suggest creating a special place for these cartridges - a lesson I have now learned.14 people voted this review as helpful and 5 people voted this review as unhelpful.
Really engaging for my 9 year old
Chris from Boca Raton - 4 out of 5.
My sister bought the Incredibles leapster game for my 9 year old daughter for her birthday - she loves it! Practicing multiplication and spelling words has never been something I could get her to do on her own. Now she WANTS to play all the learning games the so that she gets enough points to win access cards. The cards let her make progress in the jungle game. I suppose someday she'll beat the bad guy, but until then, this game has her practicing away!15 people voted this review as helpful and 2 people voted this review as unhelpful.
More Games Please........We're Getting Bored!
Rhiannon from Virginia Horse Country! - 2 out of 5.
My five-year-old son's "Leapster" is his favorite! He absolutely loves the "games" that are for his age group. My gripe is that 5 years - 8 years is a long stretch....Children can get discouraged easily and lose interest if the material is too far above their heads. It makes them feel inadequate, and it isn't fun anymore! Not for Mom and Dad, either!Since the "Leapster" is such an expensive investment...I would have expected the co. to have a wider variety of products/games available by now. (With possibly two to three-year margins on the packages). We have collected all the ones appropriate for five year olds....and we're getting bored.
Please, bring out some new and interesting and fun learning games asap!!! For all ages~~~

My son loves it
M. Fisher from Southern California - 4 out of 5.
I bought my kids Leapsters on an impulse in December just before a long plane trip. They loved them and it kept them entertained the whole time in the airport and on the plane. I got headphones and they fit in the case. I bought the Incredibles game for my son and he really likes it. He is in 2nd grade. My only complaint is that some of the games require that he use cards he has accrued by earning points, but we cannot figure out how this works. And the instruction manual did not explain it. I haven't been able to gauge how much he is learning but it sure keeps them entertained in a more educational way than other electronic games! I also hope they come out with more cartridges for older kids.13 people voted this review as helpful and 3 people voted this review as unhelpful.

My kids got this one for Christmas, and they say it is AWESOME! :) They like the spelling, math and parts of speech games alot. It is so neat that they like to play these learning games. My two older children are 6 and 7 years old. And I hope Leap frog will come out with more for grades 2nd and 3rd and up...15 people voted this review as helpful and 3 people voted this review as unhelpful.

My daughter received this game based on toys r us age recomendation 5-8. Well click on the picture of the item and the age is 2nd to 3rd grade how many 5 year olds that you know that can really do 2nd grade math. I contaced toys r us via email and they apologized and did nothing to change the age. Let the buyer beware.23 people voted this review as helpful and 9 people voted this review as unhelpful.
